MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) and Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) will launch promotions on Visit Miri Year 2018 via digital platforms.
One such platform is the Miri App, which features comprehensive information on tourist attractions, eateries, accommodation and transportation facilities across the city and its surrounding areas.
Miri App developer and advisor Wilson Law said the app was a stepping stone in engaging all stakeholders in Miri during Visit Miri Year meeting here.
“Our plan is to involve service providers and product sellers to use the Miri App as an additional sales channel or a first step into the digital economy.
“There will also be a one-stop website where outstanding service providers will be featured and endorsed,” he said.
Law added that besides digital apps to promote tourist spots, traditional marketing strategies would be deployed.
MCC tourism development standing committee chairman Ernest Kong said the Miri App was being actively promoted and received many downloads.
“Our committee is currently in the final stages of judging and reviewing the 15 video submissions for the short-video contest,” he said.
Miri mayor Adam Yii said those with further ideas could share their views during a brain-storming session by the committee involved in Visit Miri Year 2018.
The council plans to launch Visit Miri Year 2018 by the end of this year.
