Inclusive environment needed for differently-abled people to be independent

Kenny Lee Man Njun, 21, needs assistance to be lifted to and from the bed to his wheelchair on a daily basis. He is pursuing his diploma in Mass Communications, is an author of motivational book and would start work from home soon. He is a jovial youth with big dreams but what sets him apart from the rest is that he suffers from a severe form of disability called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He could only move his head and his right hand partially. With the help from the Beautiful Gate Foundation For The Disabled, a nonprofit independent living centre (ILC) for the disabled, Lee is able to live independently.

AS A working mother of two young children I am occupied with meeting my children’s daily needs which leaves me exhausted by the end of the day.

So, it is understandable why I admire mothers with disability who have to cope with their condition and still raise their children well.
