THE Consumers Association of Penang has called on the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) to take action against shop operators who put up huge canopies by the roadside in Little India.

Its president S.M. Mohamed Idris said the pitching of canopies caused a fire threat and traffic obstruction along China Street, Penang Street, King Street and Market Street.
