Rescue teams continue search for missing men

MIRI: Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department is carrying out search and rescue operations in two separate locations in the central region of the state to find two men believed to have drowned in separate incidents.

The department said the search had been intensified at Pantai Belawai in Sarikei for ship worker Louis Tibong, 24.

He is believed to have fallen overboard while working in a ship nine days ago.

So far, the operation along the coastline and rivermouths has been fruitless.

In a separate incident on Monday, a palm oil worker fell into a pond while working at RH Selangau Mill in Mukah.

Indonesian man Heritino Pai, 29, is still missing.

Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue personnel found the corpse of an unidentified a man in the Rajang River near Nanga Iran village.

Police are still trying to ascertain the man’s identity.
