JOHOR BARU: Police officers and personnel have been reminded to carry out their responsibilities well when serving the people.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd did not mince his words as he demanded further improvement from his men.

“I love all of those serving with the police in Johor and I will make sure that your welfare would be taken care of as long as I am here.

“But I want all officers and personnel to do their work better when serving the people,” he said in his speech during his working visit to the Johor Baru South police district.

He admitted that there were some bad apples within the force that have cast a negative perception from the people towards the force.

“It is quite shameful for me when there are some policemen who did not grasp or know the law well,” he added.

Comm Mohd Khalil said collecting information was an important activity for policemen which might lead them to unsavoury places such as entertainment outlets.

But it was important that officers do not end up being influenced by these visits.

“If we do not have good discipline as police officers and personnel, then PDRM is not the place for us,” he said.

He also pointed out that as police officers and personnel, it was their duty to protect and serve the people.

“We must serve the people no matter their race or faith as our main objective as police officers is to uphold the law,” he added.
