ASTRO artistes Danny Koo, Nicole Lai and Geraldine Gan enthralled fans in Penang during a promotional appearance for their new travel show ‘Love N Music’.

Loud cheers greeted their renditions of songs from the five-episode Mandarin series featuring the sights and sounds of Melbourne and Tasmania in Australia.

The trio also spoke about the interesting experiences they had Down Under and posed with fans at Gurney Paragon Mall.

Astro assistant vice-president of artiste management ShaSha Chong said the series was filmed over three weeks in May and debuted on Aug 19.

Its 30-minute episodes aired on Astro Wah Lai Toi channel 310 and Astro Wah Lai Toi HD channel 311 every Saturday at 9.30pm.

“Instead of visiting the usual tourist sites, we went off the beaten track to feature lesser-known places.

“We also interviewed some Malaysians who are now living there. Most of the songs were written during the trip,” said Chong, who was also the show’s executive producer.

Though it was the first time the trio — more popularly known as just Danny, Nicole and Geraldine — had worked together, they instantly found chemistry.

The gorgeous sights provided ample inspiration for song-writing. Some numbers were improvised on the spot in gardens or vineyards.

Others were written at the end of each day when they recalled their experiences.

“We could feel every word we wrote. Being city dwellers, it was refreshing to be in places so quiet and serene. Every spot we visited had its own charm.

“For me, the highlight was staying at a wildlife park where there were kangaroos hopping around outside my window,” Nicole said.

They were charmed by the laid-back pace of life in the countryside.

“The natural scenery and clean air in Tasmania uplift your soul. It’s a wonderful environment out of a fairy tale to create music,” said Danny.

Geraldine added: “Going around, you can’t help but feel relaxed. Both locations were memorable. We took rides on a hot air balloon and helicopter, and the stunning views below allowed us to reflect on life and more.”

The recent promotional event also saw the three travel hosts autograph copies of a special collectible box set that had the series soundtrack alongside a pop-up card with cutouts.

Those interested can purchase the sets at Popular bookstores nationwide at RM29.90 while stocks last. There are only 1,500 sets.
