STARWALKERS can quench their thirst with Spritzer natural mineral water after completing the 7km walk on Sunday.

The company is giving out 21,000 bottles as well as 1,000 T-shirts for Penang Starwalk 2017.

Group public relations manager Winnie Chin said the sponsorship was in line with their aim to promote a healthy lifestyle.

“This is why, after sponsoring the walk in Ipoh earlier this year, we are proud to be associated with Penang Starwalk this time.

“Apart from being a great thirst quencher, our water contains five types of minerals which are essential for health,” she said after handing over the sponsorship of 600ml bottles at the Spritzer Ecopark in Taiping on Monday.

Chin said the Spritzer natural mineral water was also high in silicon, which has been proven by researchers to be effective in helping prevent Alzheimer’s disease.

“The silicon in our water can reduce aluminium content in the body.

“Researchers have found a strong link between human exposure to aluminium and Alzheimer’s,” she said.

In 2012, Keele University in the United Kingdom published its research, stating that drinking silicon-rich mineral water is the most effective and non-invasive way to reduce an individual’s overall exposure to aluminium.

The research, led by Prof Christopher Exley, has shown that regular drinking of up to one litre a day of Spritzer mineral water removes aluminium from the bodies of people with Alzheimer’s disease.

Chin said that in January this year, the group started exporting its mineral water to the United Kingdom under the brand Acilis by Spritzer Water.

Spritzer natural mineral water is extracted from a source 128m underground within a 133.5ha lush tropical rainforest far from contamination.

The company has won numerous Malaysian and international awards.

Among the awards are being named the Largest Bottled Water Producer in Malaysia by the Malaysia Book of Records and Asia Pacific Bottled Water Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan from 2010 to 2016.

They also won the Trusted Brands Platinum Award by Reader’s Digest a total of 15 times; Superior Taste Award by the International Taste & Quality Institute of Brussels six times; and the Asia Excellent Brand Award for three consecutive years.

The 7km non-competitive Penang Starwalk 2017 will be flagged off from Gurney Paragon Mall at 7am on Sunday.

The platinum sponsors for the walk are YTL Communications Sdn Bhd (YES) and Naza Kia Malaysia Sdn Bhd while the silver sponsors are Eastern & Oriental Bhd, F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd, Federal Oats Mills Sdn Bhd, Health4U Solutions Sdn Bhd, Mula Car International Sdn Bhd, Perfect Food Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd and BookDoc.

BookDoc sponsored 22,000 non-woven bags for the event.

The venue sponsor is Gurney Paragon Mall.
