Malaysian companies looking to expand their businesses overseas are urged to participate in the Incoming Buying Mission (IBM) event to be held in conjunction with Malaysia International Halal Showcase (Mihas) 2015, says the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).
The event, scheduled for March 31, will take place at Level 1, Menara Matrade, Kuala Lumpur from 10am to 5pm.
The IBM will be held a day prior to the opening of Mihas trade fair on April 1. The trade fair will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and will end on April 4.
IBM Mihas provides a rare opportunity for Malaysian companies to participate in a one-to-one business matching session with international buyers. More than 300 companies from 42 countries will participate in this one-day event.
Among the participating countries are China, Algeria, Indonesia, Thailand, India, South Korea, Japan, Qatar, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The international buyers attending the matching session are mainly looking to source for food products, including juices, cordials, poultry, seafood, fruits and nuts, bakery products, jam, jelly, puddings, spices and condiments, processed vegetables and fruits.
However, Malaysian suppliers of food packaging and containers, herbal and traditional products, as well as toiletries, should also participate in this event.
Last year, Mihas successfully generated US$291.4mil (RM1.1bil) in sales, of which US$143.9mil were from the IBM. The top three nations that have made the most contribution through last year’s IBM were China (US$18.5mil), South Korea (US$11.6mil) and Japan (US$5.3mil).
