AN electrical engineer gave up his career in order to preserve his family’s 40-year-old secret satay recipe.

The satay, traditionally prepared on a makeshift charcoal grill and served with a succulent peanut sauce, was first introduced in Melaka on a rickety wooden pushcart in the 1980s by an enterprising Peranakan Chinese woman.
