AZIZULHASNI Awang, who became Keirin world champion at the Track Cycling World Championship 2017 in Hong Kong recently, has been honoured with two mentions in the Malaysia Book of Records.

Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi, founder of the Malaysia Book of Records, handed over two certificates to the cyclist for the feat of becoming the first Malaysian to win a bronze medal in cycling at the Olympics and the first to win gold at the track cycling world championship (keirin category).

A beaming Azizulhasni, who followed up on his Rio performance by clocking 10.253 second on April 13 to win Malaysia's first world title in cycling, said he was now focused on nabbing an Olympic gold medal.

“Now I'm training hard and preparing to grab gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics," he said.

Ooi said Azizul had successfully proven his prowess in the world’s eyes by taking down all challengers during the recent world championship.

“He was also the first Malaysian grab a bronze in cycling at the Olympics in Rio last year," he added.

The presentation ceremony took place at Malaysia Book of Records office at Menara BRDB, Jalan Maarof.
