Life lessons to be had from scaling a peak

Mission accomplished: The writer and her friend, Rose Hennessy, at the summit of Mount Kinabalu.

Around this time a month ago, at 6.10 in the morning, my friend Rose Hennessy and I watched one of the most spectacular sunrises of our lives at Low’s Peak, the summit of Mount Kinabalu at 4,095m above sea level.

She has previously trekked up two other mountains namely Mount Apo in Davao, the Philippines, and Annapurna in Nepal. This was my first mountain.
