Quest for best popiah begins next month

What makes a good popiah?: Tell us your favourite eatery by nominating via Metro Online Broadcast from Feb 1 to 10.

IN FEBRUARY, The Star People’s Food Awards will feature a new category — Best Popiah.

If you want to recommend your favourite popiah eateries or stalls, log on to Metro Online Broadcast (MOB) at

This delicacy, which is popular in Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, is usually served fresh or fried, with fillings comprising vegetables or meat.

What makes a good popiah? Is it the skin, sauce, vegetables or meat filling?

Let us know and share your favourites through a short review and include photos.

From Feb 1 to 10, log on to MOB to nominate your favourite eatery to stand a chance of winning attractive prizes such as hotel stays and dining vouchers.

Those who nominate, vote or successfully share a link are automatically entered into the race to win prizes.

Nominations are open for the first 10 days of the month, followed by voting until Feb 28.

The Star People’s Food Awards is a monthly contest that recognises the best street food in the Klang Valley.

Every month until May, the public can vote for the best category-based street food with curry laksa, which will be featured in March.

You have until Jan 31 to vote for your favourite nasi briyani eatery, the category for this month.

To-date, Restoran Syed in SS19, Subang Jaya is tops, followed by Legend’s Claypot Briyani House in Seri Kembangan and Chacha’s Naan and Briyani Special in Section 14, Petaling Jaya.
