THE View at Hotel Equatorial Penang brings together exquisite cuisine, exemplary service and stunning views to deliver a fine dining experience.

The View welcomes you with its charming and elegant ambience overlooking the panoramic cityscape and the two Penang Bridges.

The place is perfect for a romantic dinner for two, a family gathering and corporate functions.

Hotel food and beverage director Anil Kumar Nair said that besides the standard a la carte, the kitchen team can also customise menus as per clients’ requests.

“We also have wine pairing dinners at least once every three months for Penangites to indulge in exceptional French cuisine with a curated wine list from around the globe.”

The restaurant seats some 40 guests in the main dining area and a further 38 in the two private rooms with spectacular views of Penang’s skyline through full glass windows.

A pianist entertains live from 7pm to 10pm nightly except Sundays.

There is also an adjoining cigar room featuring a fine selection of Cuban and Havana cigars.

The View captivates with sophisticated dishes made from fresh and high quality produce.

Chef de cuisine Looi Soon Lee harvests his own vegetable and herb garden at the hotel.

Signature dishes include grilled Australian grain-fed beef tenderloin, oven-baked lamb rack chop on almond couscous, baked Atlantic cod fillet, and grilled prawn with vegetables.

Served with Szechuan pepper, wild mushrooms and polenta, the beef tenderloin will leave you completely delighted while the lamb rack will surely pamper the palate.

More choices consist of French Belon oyster, Beluga caviar, poached lobster salad, bean curd and wild mushroom morsel broth, Tuscan risotto, and cappelini (served with eggplant, scallops and tomatoes).

Diners can also indulge in the delectable daily semi-buffet dinner. Select your main from the menu to go with the delicious spread of appetisers, salads and desserts from the buffet.

Must-haves include marinated salmon gravlax, Caesar salad tossed inside a fresh parmesan cheese block, seafood on ice and sashimi as well as sweet treats like tiramisu and lava cake.

Another unique experience is the Caveau of Confrerie du Sabre d’Or where you open a Mumm Cordon Rouge N/V champagne bottle with a sabre. The act of sabrage at RM490 nett per person also comes with a certificate.

The View is open from 6.30pm to 10pm daily. For more details and reservations, call 04-6327000 or email
