A savoury Ramadan feast awaits at The Light Hotel Penang in Seberang Jaya, Penang.

GET into the spirit of the holy month by experiencing Iftar at its best with sumptuous traditional buffets and special set menus at The Light Hotel Penang.

At the Spice Brasserie, indulge in the robust flavour and aroma of Malaysian traditional cuisines with the Khazanah Sajian Nusantara Ramadan Buffet Dinner.

Priced at RM110 nett per adult and RM90 nett per child/senior citizen, the mouth-watering spread of some 170 dishes will leave you craving for more!

There are four rotational menus with each consisting 20 main dishes, six live cooking stalls, two types of carvings, six types of gulai kawah (curry served in cauldrons) and more than 15 types of desserts, particularly the perennial favourites of bubur durian and homemade kuih muih.

Not forgetting the extensive selection of appetisers, rojak buah-buahan, gado-gado, kerabu, jajan, jeruk, soup and bubur lambuk, and two types of savoury rice such as biryani kambing and chicken burkhari.

A feast for both the eyes and palates, the creations feature delicacies from the various states with emphasis on Minang dishes from Negri Sembilan, namely sotong sumbat, lala goreng kunyit, gulai lemak nanas ikan talang masin, daging rendang nogori and sambal gesek.

Other delightful options include kambing percik Minang, telur itik masak lemak cili padi, ikan pari asam pedas Melaka, singgang ikan tenggiri Kelantan, pajeri terung, ayam masak merah and kerutub kambing.

For more variety are nasi kandar (such as sambal udang and kari kepala ikan utara), Oriental (butter lemon chicken and sweet and sour fish), Western (coffee-crusted beef tenderloin and beef pot pie), and Indian (nihari gosht and chicken tikka masala) interpretations.

From the action stalls are the signature three-flavoured chicken shawarma, ikan bakar, char koay teow kambing, Hokkien prawn mee, chicken and duck rice, to name a few.

It is indeed dining perfection with family and friends this Ramadan! The buffet is served from 7pm to 10pm daily until June 4 with live band performance by Ar Rayyan.

Alternatively for those who prefer a simple set dinner is the Biryani Dome Set comprising biryani rice, ayam bawang, kambing kari pekat, sambal sotong, telur kurma/dalca and sayur goreng masala.

Priced at RM50 nett per person (minimum six persons), the set also comes with a serving of kurma, dessert and a jar of beverage of the day.

Another dining option is the A La Santai Buffet Dinner at the alfresco dining area of the Garden Terrace at Level 3. Enjoy an array of yummy local favourites ala stall concept at RM88 nett per adult and RM68 nett per child/senior.

Both the Biryani Dome Set and A La Santai are available until June 2.

Private Ramadan Meeting Package starts from RM90 nett per person and Ramadan Room Package from RM230+ (with breakfast/sahur for two persons) and RM380+ (breakfast/sahur and Ramadan buffet dinner for two).

The hotel also offers specially tailored buffet menus for buka puasa gatherings of 100 persons or more, priced from RM90 nett per person. Separate male and female prayer rooms with Imam for terawih prayers are available.
