FISH, crustaceans and assorted seafood are taking centre stage in the aptly named Seafood Sensation dinner buffet at Temptations, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel’s all-day dining restaurant.

Available three times a week, the buffet offers seafood dishes cooked in Western, Eastern and local styles, prepared by executive chef Supi Mansor and his team.

These include Japanese specialities such as sashimi and sushi, Chinese wok stir-fries, Italian pasta and Malay hot dishes.

The dishes include Shrimp Alfredo Baked Pasta, Seafood Paella, Ikan Patin Masak Lemak, Sotong Masak Kunyit and Seafood Chowder made from red snapper, squid and prawns.

The sweet and slightly spicy Stir-Fried Asparagus with Chilli Shrimp Paste, which was a personal favourite, complemented rice-based dishes such as Chinese Seafood Fried Rice or Nasi Goreng Kampung with Shrimp Paste.

The seafood on ice section has black and green mussels, flower crab, bamboo clam, tiger prawn and slipper lobster.

The freshly shucked New Zealand oysters come with lemon wedges and other accompaniments such as Tabasco sauce, shallot vinegar, cocktail sauce, horseradish and sriracha, which were popular at the preview.

Another popular section is the Chinese wok stir-fries, where diners can choose ingredients like mussels, tiger prawns and clams, and hand them to the chef to cook.

In addition, Temptations’ chefs recommend the promotion’s signature dishes – Chilli Slipper Lobster, and Malay Style Grilled Giant Snapper.

The Chilli Slipper Lobster’s sweet, tangy and spicy flavours were similar to that of the Chilli Crab dish, while the red snapper dish featured a marination of Malay spices and chilli dip for a spicy kick.

Other seafood dishes prepared on a rotation basis include Baked Whole Salmon in Rock Salt Crust with Lemon-Butter Sauce, Steamed Barramundi in Light Soya Sauce, Fish Head Curry, Oyster Florentine, Baked Dory with Bechamel Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese and Caper-Butter Sauce, and Butter Prawn.

For sweet endings, the dessert section offers a variety of cakes, puddings, macarons, Malay kuih and apam balik, as well as ice cream and ais batu kacang with customisable condiments.

The Seafood Sensation dinner buffet is available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

It is served from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, and available throughout the year.

The dinner buffet is priced at RM111 nett per adult, while children get to dine at half price.

In conjunction with the hotel’s 22nd anniversary, every third diner can enjoy the Seafood Sensation dinner buffet at RM22 nett until July 18.
