IMPIANA Hotel Ipoh Chinese chef Wong Sim Pin has prepared a special lou sang for its Chinese New Year set dinner promotion this year.

Instead of using the conventional plum sauce, Wong will use a blackcurrant-based sauce instead.

“It will still be sweet and tangy but less filling,” he said, adding that it would pair well with the other ingredients.

Wong said there would be two sets to choose from, the RM888 eight-course dinner or the RM1,088 nine-course dinner.

The eight-course set will include a salmon yu sang, braised crab meat broth with surimi, double-boiled chicken with Chinese herbs, deep-fried prawns with salted egg, steamed dragon garoupa with special premier soy sauce, braised mushroom with bean curd root, fried rice, drinks and desserts.

The nine-course set includes salmon yu sang, braised crab meat broth with dry scallop and roe, roasted crispy chicken with sesame and prawn crackers, fried tiger prawn with Portugal sauce, steamed dragon garoupa with special premier soy sauce, braised mushroom with dry oyster and black moss, fried rice with barbeque chicken and chilled mango sago with pomelo in coconut milk served with crispy Shanghai pancake, and both sets are for 10 people.

The Impiana Hotel Ipoh festive buffet will include a variety of dishes for Chinese New Year.
