AROMATIC Cajun-style dishes with fresh seafood in a homely setting is wooing people to Ombak Kitchen in Shah Alam.
The restaurant which serves ocean-fresh Cajun dishes allows diners to be at ease when given tools to play with when their meal arrives.
With no rules to dining, and armed with a hammer, apron and gloves, diners get to enjoy their food the old fashion way without the use of cutlery.
Three speciality sauces – Ombak Hot Cajun Sauce, Dark Chilli Chocolate Sauce and Creamy Lemon Butter Sauce are available to go with the seafood offering.
A combo comprising fresh crabs, prawns, squid and clams as well as vegetables such as broccoli, corn and potatoes with four bowls of rice costing RM109 feeds three to four people.
The seafood platter (RM89), fried squid (RM9.90) or black pepper mutton (RM15.90) are other dishes on the menu.
Ombak Kitchen chief executive officer Sharita Loo said that the restaurant’s concept aimed at offering families a place to get-together and eating without worrying about the mess they made.
“Let’s face it, when we eat as a family, we do not care about table manners.
“We want to make each visit fun, relaxing, enjoyable and satisfying for our customers,” said the 35-year-old entrepreneur.
Diners should not miss the Heavenly Manis dessert that is priced at RM28.90 for two or RM48.70 for four diners.
For this dessert, the waiter places a sheet of white paper, then decorates the entire table with fruits, sweet treats and a combination of jam including chocolate.
The Ombak Kitchen logo is then drawn on the top right corner of the paper before diners can indulge in dessert.
