INDULGE in the Churrasco (skewered barbecue) experience at the Olive Tree Hotel in Bayan Baru, Penang, with its ‘samba-licious’ Brazilian BBQ Buffet.
It is available every Friday in the hotel’s newly opened Selah Cafe.
Lamb chop, chicken wings, chicken breast wrapped in turkey slice, sausages, chicken salami, squid, prawn, beef strip loin, lamb leg and pineapples are placed on metal skewers and grilled on a charcoal grill to perfect succulence.
The meats are generally seasoned with only salt to preserve the original flavour.
However, diners have the option to enhance the taste with sauces such as spicy aioli, yoghurt mint and jalapeño balsamic.
The mouth-watering barbecue meats are then served a la Rodizio where Passadores (meat carvers) continuously go from table to table carrying the skewers of grilled items to be served straight to the diners’ plates.
There are a salad bar featuring salada de arroz (rice salad), cheese platter and canapes, to name a few, shrimp soup as accompaniments and an action counter which whips up pasta with two types of sauces and condiments.
Hot dishes available include chicken rosti potato, creamy rice casserole, black bean stew with sausages, sautéed vegetables and coxinhas (Brazilian chicken croquettes).
Rounding up are desserts comprising banana chocolate cake, coconut chess pie, cream de papaya mousse, chocolate eclairs and brigadeiros (Brazilian chocolate fudge balls).
Available from 6.30pm to 10pm, the buffet is priced at RM108+ (adult), RM50+ (children) and RM60+ (senior citizen).
