Diners at resort restaurant are in for ‘splashing’ good treats

THE Splash Sunday buffet of Golden Sands Resort by Shangri-La in Penang serves up delicious fun for all in the family.

Grown-ups and youngsters alike will love the tasty spread laid out at the Garden Cafe from noon to 3pm but the children enjoy added perks.

For with every paying adult at RM89, a child below 12 gets to eat for free and also utilise the hotel’s new Splash Zone.

Resort communications director Suleiman Tunku Abdul Rahman said it was equipped with two slides and giant plant arches teeming with cute characters and animals.

“The kids can have a quick bite then head to the waterplay area for soaking good fun while their parents continue eating to their heart’s content.

“We have lifeguards monitoring the area at all times, so be rest assured of your young ones’ safety. There are changing room facilities on site,” he pointed out.

Top up RM20 to give your kids access to the resort’s Adventure Zone as well.

“The buffet menu is family oriented,” Suleiman added, pointing to food examples like Baked Hot Dog Puffs and Deep-Fried Chicken Wings.

There are also Chicken Nuggets, Onion Rings, French Fries, Potato Wedges, Spring Rolls, Vegetable Samosas and a Chef’s Selection of Pizzas.

More proper eaters might want to start off with the variety of fresh salads or help themselves to bowls of Vegetable Latte with assorted breads.

Among the mains are Baked Beef Lasagne, Chicken Pie, Chicken Curry Kapitan, Sausage and Chicken Ham with Onion Sauce, Yong Chow Fried Rice, Roti Canai, Fried Hokkien Noodles and assorted Dim Sum.

The carving station should be the next destination, for it offers Roasted Rosemary Chicken and White Tuna Provencal.

At nearby action stalls, one can order their favourite pastas cooked fresh with various condiments in Bolognese, Alfredo or Napolitana sauces, or have a hearty bowl of Asian noodle soup.

Your outing is bound to be sweet with various pastries, jellies, puddings, fruit tarts, cupcakes, doughnuts and ice cream with toppings for dessert.

For families with more children than adults, additional youngsters are charged at half price. Those without children, pay RM59 for food only.

Still looking for a venue to celebrate tonight? The cafe has a Chinese New Year’s Eve Reunion Buffet Dinner from 6pm onwards, priced at RM158 adults and RM79 kids.

Tomorrow, there is a Chinese New Year Buffet Lunch starting noon at RM98 adults and RM49 kids. Both spreads feature an international menu with emphasis on Oriental flavours. Diners also get a glass of mocktail. All prices are net.
