FRANCO seeks to redefine fusion dining with its wallet-friendly French-Japanese dishes.
Located within Alora Hotel in Bayan Baru, Penang, the fine casual dining restaurant is all about quality food prepared from scratch using the freshest locally sourced and imported ingredients in a casual, comfortable environment.
Promising a remarkable journey for the taste buds, signaturecreations include Franco French Toast, Arrabbiata (pasta withchillies, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplant, turkey ham and homemade sauce piquant) and Squid Ink Rice (with assorted seafood and omu egg).
Made from a special type of bread called ‘Queen Bread’,the fluffy light French toast is dipped in beaten egg, pan-fried to perfection, dusted with icing sugar and topped with a dollop of rich whipped cream maple syrup served on the side.
Another all-time favourite is Spaghetti Yumeina garnishedwith frankfurters, baby spinach, tomatoes, shimeji mushroom, smoked chicken ham and an onsen egg. Sauteed with shoyu and Franco’s secret broth, the taste is simply smashing and wholesome.
The baked rice of Riz Au Curry is sheer decadence with homemade Japanese curry, beef brisket, frankfurters, broccoli, cheese and egg. The curry flavour is intense minus the spiciness.
Other delights include Chicken Teriyaki Rice (with omu egg), Lobster Bisque Pasta (savoury and rich soup base complemented with cheese and grilled tiger prawn)and Soufflé Au Franco (fluffy egg and cheese with homestyle tomato sautéed rice).
Franco is currently having set dinner and lunch promotions. Available from 6pm to 9pm daily, the dinner set priced at RM35.90+ and features a starter, a choice of main, dessert and a drink.
Selling from RM19.90+ onwards and served from noon to 3pm daily, the tantalising three-course set lunch comes with minestrone soup, a choice of main and avanilla softee.
Breakfast/brunch is available from 11am to noon with selections comprising Francoishii Breakfast (Franco French Toast accompanied with sautéed BBQ chickenfrankfurters and smoked chicken toast) and Fruity Pancake.
New in the menu are pizzas – Truffle Mushroom Puff (variety of mushrooms, truffle cream and four types of cheese) and Classic Puff (Emmental, cheddar and gruyere cheese with chicken ham, chicken frankfurters, shimeji mushroom, eggplant and cherry tomatoes).
There are also Croque Monsieur (a combo of ham, gruyere and Emmental cheese on a perfectly grilled bread), B.L.T. (a classicsandwich with a Franco twist) and Mac & Cheese, just to name a few.
Dessert consists of soufflés (chocolate, matcha, vanilla or cheese), pancakes with Nutella, Apples & Granola, Black Forest and Toffee Banana, and parfaits like Berries Cheesecake and Cookies & Cream.
Some of the dishes require a 20-minute preparation time so itis advisable to call and makereservations.
Refreshing beverages include coffee, tea, matcha (superiorquality green tea) and Franco’s Speciality like Fizzy Berries, Matcha Smoothie and Peanut Butter & Banana Milkshake.
