FANCY having smoked salmon with your yee sang?

At Dorsett Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the group’s signature Golden Prosperity Yee Sang features smoked salmon, pumpkin and mango.

The mango added a hint of sweet and sour to balance the overall sweetness of the festive dish.

About 30 ingredients are used to concoct the yee sang sauce.

This is among the festive delights you can have at the hotel’s Checkers Cafe until Feb 22.

Those who are vegetarian can also enjoy the Vegetarian Snow Pear Yee Sang.

Diners can have the Prosperous Crispy Chicken Medallions for only RM8 nett for every purchase of the Golden Prosperity Yee Sang as well as a complimentary medium set of yee sang with a minimum of four persons ordering the Quick Lunch Set. The promotion is until Feb 22.

For this meal, we first tossed the Salmon Yee Sang, followed by the Golden Prosperity Yee Sang.

To celebrate the lunar new year, executive chef Yau Kok Kheong and his culinary team have concocted nine-course set menus and a buffet spread.

There are three Dorsett Chinese New Year yee sang set menus to choose from and they are priced at RM888, RM988 and RM1,038 (per table of eight to 10 persons).

We were served Set Menu 3, which included yee sang, Joy and Luck Seafood Broth; Dorsett Crispy Roasted Chicken; Braised Lingzhi Mushroom with Beancurd, Tau Kan and Vegetables; Wok-fried Fragrant Rice “Yong Chow” style; and for seafood lovers, Wok-fried Marmite Tiger Prawns, and Steamed Australian Red Grouper with Premium Soy Sauce.

The sea coconut and longan dessert offered a sweet ending to our meal.

I was delighted that the menu also included my favourite Crispy Pancake with Lotus Paste. Even though I was bursting at the seams, there is always space for dessert.
