Impiana Hotel Ipoh offers traditional fare to celebrate Chinese New Year

IMPIANA Hotel Ipoh is ushering in the Year of the Monkey the traditional way with must-have dishes to signify a joyful and prosperous year ahead.

Besides the Yee Sang, the hotel’s eight-course family reunion set menus also feature fish for abundance and prawns for happiness.

Its general manager, Kamarudin Kassim, said Chinese New Year is all about tradition.

“It’s a time to go back to our roots and I think that is what people want as well,” he said when introducing the hotel’s four set menus ranging from RM598nett to RM898nett for 10 people.

The RM898 menu comprises the Norwegian Salmon Yee Sang; Braised Crabmeat Broth with Dried Scallop and Roe; Golden Crispy Chicken with Sesame and Prawn Cracker; Sauteed Crystal Prawns with Portugal Sauce; Steamed Dragon Garoupa with Mix Vegetables in Soy Sauce; Braised Mushroom with Dried Oyster and Black Moss; Sweet Barbeque Chicken Fried Rice; Chilled Mango Sago with Pomelo in Coconut Milk; and Crispy Shanghai Pancake.

The RM798 set is features Braised Exotic Seafood Broth; Deep Fried Crispy Chicken with Mongolian Sauce; Poached Live Tiger Prawns with Premier King Soy Sauce; Deep Fried Garoupa with Nyonya Cincalok Sauce; Chengdu Province Vegetables with Dried Oyster; Lotus Leaf Glutinous Rice; and Snow Pear and Longan with White Fungus, besides the Yee Sang and pancake.

The RM698 menu offers Double Boiled Chicken Soup with Ginseng; Steamed Chicken with Homemade Ginger Sauce; Buttered Sauteed Crystal Prawns; Deep Fried Seabass with Assam Sauce; Dong Ling Mix Vegetables; Fried Rice with Two Variety Fish; and Chilled Honey Dew Sago with Coconut Milk, besides the Yee Sang and pancake.

Meanwhile, the RM598 menu has Crabstick Yee Sang; Crabmeat Broth; Steamed Chicken with Baby Kailan in Oyster Sauce; Deep Fried Seabass with Sweet and Sour Sauce; Braised Bailing Mushroom with Variety Beancurd; Fried Rice with Shrimp; and Iced Longan with Fruit Cocktail.

The set menus are available from Feb 8 to 13 while other pre-Chinese New Year sets are available from now.

Kamarudin said the hotel has also planned a host of traditional activities on the third day of the celebration, starting from 10am.

“There will be a lion and dragon dance performance, Chinese orchestra performance and lighting of fire crackers.

“The God of Prosperity will also be making his appearance as we host our giant prosperity Yee Sang at the hotel lobby.

“Everyone is invited,” he said.

Those with smaller families will be glad to know that the hotel is also having a Chinese New Year Eve Reunion Barbeque Dinner from Feb 5 to 9, from 7pm to 10.30pm daily.

The barbeque dinner is priced at RM88nett per adult and RM45nett per child (aged six to 12).

There will also be a Fortune Hi-Tea from Feb 6 to 9, from noon to 4pm daily, priced at RM48nett per adult and RM24nett per child.
