Curry laksa race too close to call

Old favourite: The recipe of the aromatically spiced curry laksa at the Raja Bot Wet Market has been passed on from one generation to the next for over 65 years.

VOTING in The Star People’s Food Awards for the Best Curry Laksa in the Klang Valley is reaching a climatic end as there are only four days left to vote.

The voting phase, which began on March 15, will draw to a close on March 31.

With just days left until voting closes, it is a neck-and-neck race between two curry laksa eateries, both located in Kuala Lumpur.

Limapulo: Baba Can Cook in Jalan Doraisamy is currently in the lead with over 400 votes.

The curry laksa at this Nyonya cuisine restaurant features less common ingredients such as cucumber and hard-boiled egg and is priced at RM9.90 a bowl.

Following closely in second place is Special Recipe Restaurant in Wisma Goldhill, Jalan Raja Chulan with just over 350 votes.

With the use of tofu, long beans, bean sprouts and brinjal, this curry laksa recipe is much closer to the version most commonly seen around Kuala Lumpur.

With enough support, other eateries can still catch up with no more than 100 votes each.

Chong Hwa Curry Laksa in Jalan Genting Kelang, Restaurant Peranakan Place in Nu Sentral shopping mall and Bliss 33 in USJ 2, Subang Jaya are the next three eateries in the standings.
