Meaty goodness: The grilled lamb chop is marinated until fully flavoured.

INDULGE in the delicate modern art of food pairings at The Wine Shop in Lintang Burmah, George Town, where tantalising food and fine wine go hand-in-hand in bringing you that exquisite dining experience.

Available are over 1,000 wine labels from around the world to complement the varied selections of starters, soups, salads, mains, pastas/noodle and pizzas.

Popular brands are Teusner’s The Riebke (Shiraz) from Australia, E. Guigal’s Chateauneuf-Du-Pape from France and Luc Belaire Rare Rose also from France.

The attentive and knowledgeable servers are ever willing to recommend a good bottle to go with your food.

With the extensive options, there is a wine for every dish, budget and indulgence.

A must have starter is the roast pork, original or caramelised and freshly roasted in the kitchen daily, caviar with sour cream, and escargots. Soups are homemade mushroom or oxtail served with crustini bread.

Salad choices consist of Serano ham salad (Serano ham wrapped salad served with roasted sesame seed dressing), green salad (topped with balsamic vinegar and olive oil) and Caesar salad, the all-time favourite.

Popular mains are pork knuckles (with mashed potato and side of brown sauce), BBQ pork ribs (marinated and charbroiled with special TWS BBQ sauce) and the new creations of grilled lamb chop and honey ribs.

The BBQ pork ribs with its tangy homemade sauce are simply smashing – succulent, tender and finger licking good.

The lamb chop is marinated until full flavoured and served without any sauce.

For something lighter are fried Korean noodle (signature spicy noodle), Chorizo sausage pasta with tomato sauce and fresh basil, and Prosciutto Parma ham rosemary spaghetti, to name a few.

The thin crust pizzas are yet another mouth-watering temptation.

Adding to the selections is seafood pizza of prawn, scallop, squid, caramelised red onion and jalapeño topped with three cheeses.

Other choices include pork bolognese; TWS BBQ grilled chicken ham, pineapple, mushroom and caramelised red onion; spicy salami; and TWS pork sausage and bacon.

On the menu are also specials such as seared scallop with unsalted butter or extra virgin olive oil, mixed grill combo, smoked ribs, wiener Schnitzel (dried German style pork chop) and Gammon ham steak.

The Wine Shop also boasts a Delicatessen carrying a wide assortment of imported gourmet meats and cheeses either for dine-in or takeaway. New additions are cooked hams such as chicken pastrami and smoked turkey ham.

Also available at the Deli are delights like bangers and mash, TWS gourmet pork and apple burger, salmon sashimi, grain fed tenderloin, wagyu Marble 5 rib eye (market price), cheese and cold cuts platters.

The wagyu is well seasoned with black pepper, herbs and spices, grilled to perfection and served on a bed of button mushrooms and onions cooked with wine. The result is a sumptuous dish that is appetisingly rich in flavours.

The wines and Deli are also available through online ordering at www.thewineshoppg.com.my to be delivered to your doorstep.

The Wine Shop is open from noon to 1am daily except Sundays. For more information, kindly contact 04-2261824.
