VETERAN hiker Roslida Wati Khairuddin had no problems tackling the 14km Penang Hill Heritage Forest Challenge at the Penang Botanic Gardens.
The 48-year-old quality control employee said she never looked back since she started hiking three years ago.
Despite the initial muscle aches, she said she felt better after hiking.
“You need to be consistent. I stopped temporarily during the fasting month and my stamina decreased,” she said recently.
Roslida Wati was among some 700 people who were flagged off from the Quarry Recreational Park by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in the run which ended at the top of Penang Hill.
The participants circled the Penang Botanic Gardens before hiking up from the Moon Gate entrance.
The event was organised by the Penang Hill Corporation in collaboration with the Penang Amateur Athletics Association, Bukit Bendera Village Develop-ment and Security Committee and Penang Hill Residents’ Association.
