DISCOVER the best of Malaysia’s unique food and culture this Merdeka month at Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

From now until Sept 17, the mall is hosting a series of events and activities – #Makanankita, #Sejarahkita and #Tempatkita – under its Rasa Sayang campaign.

If you are a fan of Malaysian cuisine, you would not want to miss a visit to the #Makanankita section – the centrepiece of the Rasa Sayang experience.

Located on the ground floor, the pop-up warung (stalls) has 60 types of Malaysian food such as Kelantanese cuisine, Sarawak laksa, halal dim sum, pasembur, gelato durian D24 cendol and a wide selection of kuih.

To complement your meal, you can redeem a can of Oishi or 100Plus with a minimum purchase of RM10 from any stall.

Shoppers can show off their kitchen prowess and win up to RM8,000 worth of shopping vouchers when they participate in the Cook for Malaysia contest.

#Sejarahkita is a storytelling project by its curator Niki Cheong, featuring a collection of Malaysia’s past and present stories through videos, photos and texts.

To interact with the shoppers, #Sejarahkita also has an Aerogramme where shoppers can write a message to their past or future selves.

After that, shoppers can head over to #Tempatkita to catch one of its many exciting, culturally and artistically-immersive theatre shows.

“There is no better way to the hearts of Malaysians than through their stomach.

“With Rasa Sayang, we hope to draw more Malaysians together to share their food and stories with each other in the spirit of our National Day,” said Quill Group of Companies executive director Datuk Michael Ong.

Through a partnership with AirAsia Big Loyalty, the mall is giving away Big Points, which shoppers can accumulate to redeem AirAsia flights from as low as 500 Big Points during the monthly member’s Final Call Sale.

Shoppers can redeem one Big Point for every RM1 spent at the mall on weekdays, and two Big Points on weekends.

To kick it up a notch, AirAsia Big Loyalty will also be giving away free return flights to Penang, Langkawi, Terengganu and Sabah to 40 lucky winners.

To participate in this Big Merdeka Giveaway, shoppers simply need to spend a minimum of RM60 in a single receipt at any shops mall-wide, and snap a photo of the receipt via the AirAsia Big Loyalty mobile application. Ten winners will be selected weekly.

This contest ends on Sept 22.

Rasa Sayang is held in partnership with Kakiseni, supported by Tourism Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur City Hall, and sponsored by 100Plus Malaysia and Oishi.
