WHILE the beauty industry is thriving in the digital age, there has always been a gap between local cosmetics and international beauty brands.

Often, we are so fixated on new releases from international brands that quality local brands are overlooked.

Beauty Luxe Sdn Bhd decided it is as good a time to throw the spotlight on our own homegrown brands through mySMINK, an online beauty marketplace for local beauty products.

mySMINK was borne out of the passion and love of two ambitious sisters, Nadia and Diana Nasimuddin, who are also directors of Beauty Luxe Sdn Bhd.

Speaking at the launch at BLVD House in Kuala Lumpur, Nadia said mySMINK aimed to bring all the amazing local makeup brands onto a single platform.

“We wanted to set up an avenue for the best makeup, skincare, tools and beauty tips to let beauty enthusiasts put their best face forward and #getSMINKed.

“mySMINK will also serve as a platform to give potential local beauty brands the opportunity to build an international audience.

“Local brands that have changed the beauty game are now easily accessible from anywhere from the world,” she said.

The brand name mySMINK represents everything that can be placed in a makeup bag to give customers the confidence to SMile and wINK.

“mySMINK is a fun, inspiring and hassle-free shopping experience for all beauty lovers across the globe, thus, the tagline ‘My beauty, my way, mySMINK’,” explained Nadia.

After six months of vigorous hard work, the site went live in May and received overwhelming response not only within the country but also garnered interest from other countries such as Australia, Brunei and Singapore.

The one-stop hub carries more than 40 local beauty brands across categories such as makeup, skincare, tools, hair and body care, with products retailing from as low as RM20 up to RM300.

“There is also a product category for halal-certified products, the site curates only products that are Jakim-approved or approved by an international regulatory body,” said Nadia,

She added that male customers can also look forward to grooming products that will soon to be available on the site.

mySMINK is also the exclusive online distributor for Madame Izara, a makeup collection by actress Izara Aishah, and Morena, a cosmetic line dedicated to tan and dark skin.

“Our vision is not just to sell products but also to empower buyers with information on how to get the best out of each purchase.

“Ultimately, mySMINK’s aim is to build its own online beauty community and service its customers with complete product information, transparency, content and education,” emphasised Nadia.

Nadia also shared that mySMINK’s initial cost of investment stands at RM1mil and the online beauty portal is forecasted to see average yearly sales of RM2mil with a net profit margin of 12%.

“This will make mySMINK future a reality, to expand into the Singaporean and Indonesian markets, pushing Asian brands to the global market place,” added Nadia.
