THE fast-paced life of a cheerleader has spurred three companies to support the participants of Cheer 2017, Malaysia’s premier inter-school cheerleading competition.
F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd, Teeni Enterprise Sdn Bhd, Citychemo Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, Beiersdorf (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and Starbucks will be sponsoring several must-have items for this year’s goodie bags.
F&N will be sponsoring 6,000 cans on Oishi Green Tea for the event.
“Green tea is generally considered to be very good for health as it contains antioxidants which are important for the body. It is also low in sugar and uses only organic tea leaves,” said F&N Services (F&B) Sdn Bhd senior brand manager Quennie Tan.
Young cheerleaders can look their best for Cheer 2017 as Teeni will be sponsoring 20 Canmake cosmetic sets worth RM300 each.
“We are excited to be part of this, as our make-up line is suitable for energetic teenagers and youths,” said Teeni Enterprise senior sales and marketing executive Nicholle Liew.
“Our products also offer SPF protection, which is great for cheerleaders who will be training outdoors.
“Our selection of natural colours suits most Asian complexions. It is also long-lasting, which is great for youths who have a long day ahead of them,” said Liew.
At the end of the day, Cheer 2017 participants can freshen up with Good Virtues Co products from Citychemo.
Assistant brand manager Wong Kim May said the travel-friendly products are free from parabens, synthetic colourants and animal testing.
The company will be giving out 750 units each of Healthy Hair and Scalp Shampoo (80ml) and Antibacterial and Hydrating Shower Gel (80ml).
Also supporting the event is Beierdorf (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd which is giving out Nivea range of body lotions and hand creams.
“It is the first time Nivea is part of Cheer. We hope the participants will enjoy using the Nivea body lotions and hand cream for softer, smoother and fabulous skin.
“This event promotes team spirit among the youth, and we see this as a good opportunity to reach them,” said Nivea senior brand manager Eve Goh.
Starbucks is returning for the fifth consecutive year to show its support as a sponsor for Cheer 2017 by sponsoring RM6,000 worth of Starbucks vouchers.
The vouchers will be for complimentary beverages and “buy one, free one” deals that can be redeemed at any Starbucks outlet nationwide.
Starbucks Malaysia public affairs and digital strategy senior manager Salleharon Ahmad said Starbucks was highly supportive of events involving Malaysian youth.
“This is one of the ways in which we can show our support for youth talent, whether it is in the arts or sports like this one,” he said.
He added that whenever Starbucks supports a programme, they go all-out and are already prepared to come back and show their support for Cheer 2018.
Cheer 2017 grand finals will be a one-day event at Tropicana City Mall, Petaling Jaya, on Aug 19.
The event is organised by Star Media Group’s youth platform R.AGE and supported by the Youth and Sports Ministry, the Education Ministry and the Cheerleading Association and Registry of Malaysia.
Mobile telecommunication product and service provider XOX Mobile is the official partner for Cheer 2017, with Sunway Education Group as prize sponsor, and Nivea, Oishi Green Tea, Canmake, Starbucks and Good Virtues Co as goodie bag sponsors.
Originally a competition that featured the All-Girls and the Co-Ed Division with All-Boys and Mixed Teams, Cheer has expanded to include the University Co-Ed Elite Division last year.
