SECRET Recipe’s “Life Is Sweet” campaign that ran from December 2016 to May this year raised a total of RM35,000.
The project, a collaboration with director and actor Afdlin Shauki, was held to raise awareness of four charity organisations and get Malaysians to help the less fortunate.
“The campaign was held around the country whereby a total of RM5 would be donated to the organisations for every sale of (Secret Recipe’s) Raspberry Cheese Cake,” said Secret Recipe chief operations officer Jessie Low, adding that the company would be launching more charitable projects.
The sum raised will be channelled to Muslim Care Malaysia, Yayasan Chow Kit, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Rumah Pengasih Warga Prihatin and National Cancer Council to support their humanitarian efforts.
“The organisations were chosen by Afdlin as he had worked closely with them,” said Low.
A cheque presentation ceremony was held at Secret Recipe in Menara TM, Kuala Lumpur.
Also present were Afdlin and several representatives from the four selected charities.
“Fill your belly, fill your heart. It is a simple effort that everybody can make towards making a change.
“When I was approached to be part of this project, I was excited as it is a great way of giving back to society. I congratulate Secret Recipe for that,” said Afdlin.
He said Malaysians were kind-hearted and he learned this through working with charitable organisations.
“From my experience, I can definitely say that Malaysians care for everyone and are always willing to help the less fortunate,” he said.
Afdlin added that he hoped to collaborate with Secret Recipe in other charity programmes. — By SARAH HAZIMI
