KUANTAN: Those going back to their hometown in the east coast for Hari Raya can expect a 10% discount on toll charges when they travel using the East Coast Highway (LPT) and Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway (KLK) on June 25, the first day of Raya.

Anih Berhad executive director Datuk Nik Fauzi Nik Hussein said the discount is for all classes but only for Touch ‘n Go and Smart Tag users beginning midnight until 11.59pm.

“This incentive is to show our appreciation for the users of the highways and is part of our corporate social responsibility to the community for Aidilfitri,” said Nik Fauzi in a statement.

He also advised road users to follow the recommended timetable they have prepared for using the highways before and after Hari Raya.

The timetable recommends motorists to travel back to the east coast from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor between June 22 and June 24 while the return trip should be between July 1 and July 2.

The complete and detailed timetable for the best time to return to their individual states can be referred to at

“We hope users will follow the recommended timetable to avoid long jams when cars all meet at the same time at the tolls,” he said.

Nik Fauzi added that they will increase the number of staff working at the tolls by 17%, from 233 to 272 people, to increase the speed of service.

He added that during the peak days of travel there will be an increase of 73.8% of vehicles on the road, from 141,000 on normal days to 245,000.

There will also be 121 personnel from LPT-Ronda, Traffic Control Centre, large machinery and tow truck operators who will be working round-the-clock

He added there will be 40 police officers, 36 Fire and Rescue Department officers and 30 Civil Defence officers ready to give aid in case of any emergencies.

There will also be 176 Rela members on duty at all the tolls.

Nik Fauzi advised all drivers to top up their electronic payment before entering the highway as the top-up lane will be operating according to traffic conditions.

Those who have already entered the highways can visit any customer service centres at the toll plazas in Gombak, Bentong, Karak, Temerloh and Kuantan which operates from 7am to 10pm.
