Underprivileged family gets help to repair leaky roof

Repairs on Siti Aishah’s damaged roof will be completed by June 20.

SITI Aishah Razak and her family can now look forward to a better Hari Raya celebration without having to worry about leaking roof.

The 73-year-old, who is living with nine other family members at their home in Kampung Seri Kinta, is currently having their roof fixed with allocation from Canning assemblyman Wong Kah Woh.

Wong said the roof of the dilapidated house had been damaged for several months, affecting the living room and her bedroom.

“They came from a poor background and are not able to repair the leaky roof.

“Whenever it rains, all 10 members will have to cram together at the corner of their living room,” he said in a statement.

“We’ve met them recently and planned to give them an early Hari Raya gift by fixing the roof,” he added.

Wong said the repair works, under its “Projek Impian Perak” launched two years ago to help the needy and improve their overall living condition, is expected to be completed on June 20.

“We also held a gotong-royong to paint the house,” he said, adding that a wheelchair was also presented to Siti Aishah’s son, who had an accident in December.
