KUCHING: The state Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) is hoping its acquisition of landing craft can be expedited to be more effective in curbing encroachment of foreign vessels.

MMEA Sarawak chief First Admiral Ismaili Bujang Pit said the agency required at least two units of the landing craft to be stationed north and south of the state waters, which measures 239,000 sq km and equivalent to 40% of the Malaysian waters.
