In Petra Jaya, Sarawak, RM100,000 was given to Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who is also Petra Jaya MP, on behalf of 1,000 households.

The contributions were a portion of the total RM1mil in zakat collected by Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin as part of its financial year 2017.

“As a leading bumiputra conglomerate, we are thankful and blessed to have benefited from our country’s economic growth.

“We want to share our blessings by making our zakat contributions of more than RM1mil to the respective households in need, single mothers, the disabled and orphanages,” said Nasarudin

He said the group would allocate another RM800,000 for deserving beneficiaries in seven states.

“We believe in the importance of enhancing the quality of life of communities in need of assistance. This is very much in line with one of the tenets of Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin,” Nasarudin added.
