HAVING seen the horrors of World War II and Malayan Emergency in his youth, Datuk R. Thambipillay feels the need to have a Remembrance Day for fallen heroes is of great importance.

Thambipillay was 12 when World War II began and when he started his tertiary education, he had to go through the Malayan Emergency from 1948 to 1960.
