MPAJ has initiated an e-payment method which allows motorists to pay their parking fee for parking through the mobile parking app
MOTORISTS in the Ampang Jaya will now be able to pay their parking charges without hassle with the help of a cashless parking payment system beginning May 1.
The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) l has initiated an e-payment method which allows motorists to pay their parking fee at public bays using their smartphones through the mobile parking app called MPAJ Parking.
The pay-by-phone parking is an initiative by the council to have an alternative system that complements the current coupon system.
Council president Abdul Hamid Abdul Hussain said people could register up to six vehicles under the same username.
“While the parking rate is still 50 sen per hour, there has to be a minimum transaction amount of RM10 for the app, which motorists can use throughout the municipality.
“They will be charged the hourly rate but there is no expiration date. Motorists can even purchase a monthly pass which costs RM70 via the app,” he said during the launch of the app on April 26.
He added a surcharge of RM1 would be charged for every transaction.
“It will be very convenient for users, without having to look for shops to buy parking coupons.
“The mobile application is also able to send an alert to users that their parking period is ending, so they can immediately do a ‘top up’ through the app without rushing to their vehicles.
“Each time users use the app, the information will be made available to the enforcement officers on duty in the relevant area.
“The officers can check their mobile device and verify the number plate with the parked vehicle,” Abdul Hamid explained.
He added that from next month, users would also be able to pay their parking compounds through the app.
Ampang Jaya is the fourth council in Selangor to initiate the cashless parking payment system after Sepang, Kuala Langat and Shah Alam.
The app will be available for download from Google Play Store and the Apple App Store on May 1.
