KUCHING: Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB), in partnership with Borneo TruEvents, is organising a Tribal Warrior Challenge to kick-start its Redefining Global Tribes Campaign and rally the business events community in the country.
The Tribal Warrior Challenge, an exhilarating obstacle-based programme to bring together people involved in business events, will be held here on Aug 19.
The organisers expect to attract about 4,000 participants to the event.
“The challenge will feature three categories set within the beautiful landscape of Borneo.
“The public can opt for the 8km ‘Rite of Passage’ category or the 12km ‘Headhunter’ category, which is designed for those wanting to push their boundaries.
“The third category is the 5km ‘Bizst Mode’ that is tailored for the business events sector and open to SCB selected participants,” Borneo TruEvents general manager Terence Lim said in a statement.
SCB chief operating officer Amelia Roziman said the ‘Bizst Mode’ category would serve as a continuous effort to expand business events and package the industry in a fresh new perspective.
“The corporate sector will benefit from it by using the Tribal Warrior Challenge as a platform for team building, corporate retreat, boot camps or even orientation and incentive trips to Sarawak,” she said.
On the campaign, she said it aimed to unite the business events community and construct a stronger identity for Sarawak and Malaysia to spur fiscal and social growth.
The campaign is a sequel to SCB’s successful bid for the 55th International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Congress last year.
The state made history by hosting the sector’s most prestigious congress, placing Sarawak on the world map for second-tier destinations in conventions and conferences.
“Redefining Global Tribes Campaign is a multi-pronged revolution to further drive the impact of business events to construct a stronger and globally diverse economy for Malaysia.
“Through the sector’s fluidity in attracting trade, talent and foreign investment, a business event assembles the world into one powerful global tribe. This is the vision that Sarawak intends to lead,” she said.
