Sewerage maintenance cost rises because of indiscriminate dumping

KOTA KINABALU: Irresponsible attitudes among the community in Sandakan, who find convenience in dumping all sorts of rubbish into the sewerage pipes, are causing costly maintenance works for the local authorities.

Deputy Chief Minister and State Industrial Development Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Raymond Tan Shu Kiah said some RM5.5mil was needed to carry out repair on 15 sewage pump stations, nine sewerage treatment plants, and sewer lines in the district.
