SIBU: Gawai Dayak is an important festival, especially to Iban and Bidayuh folk, celebrated on June 1 and 2. Despite having more than a month to go, preparation for the big day has already started.
Duya Mugan, 52, an Iban traditional items and costumes seller, said the Dayaks began preparing for Gawai by April because this was when she started to see them buying festive items at her stall in Central Market here.
