MALACCA: KAJ Development is hoping to attract more visitors to Jonker Walk to stop by Bistro Year 1673, a restaurant housed in a Dutch heritage building.
KAJ Development’s chief executive officer (group hospitality), Seow Cheng Swee said more efforts will be put in to lure patrons, especially during weekends, to the restaurant which is located in the Unesco Heritage core buffer zone.
Seow added they would revamp their menu and ensure staff are well trained to provide the best service to patrons.
“We must take advantage of the fact that our restaurant is situated in a tourist hotspot,” he added.
The old building was the former “boomkantoor” or tax office for the Dutch where “havengelden” or taxes were collected.
The building structure, doors and windows were cast from 17th-century metal.
