Red-letter day for prison personnel

PERSONNEL of the Pokok Sena Prisons Department in Alor Setar of various ranks were conferred medals and awarded certificates of appreciation for their performance at work over the years.

Among the medals they received were Pingat Komisioner Jeneral Penjara Kelas Pertama, Pingat Komisioner Jeneral Penjara Kelas Kedua, Pingat Perkhidmatan Setia, Pingat Perkhidmatan Am, Pingat Jasa Penjara, Pingat Setia Penjara together with certificates of appreciation.

Held in conjunction with the 227th Prisons Department Day’s celebration, the event also saw Salim Mohd Zain and Navinderjit Singh Savinder Singh being conferred the Pingat Komisioner Jeneral Penjara Kelas Pertama and the Pingat Komisioner Jeneral Penjara Kelas Kedua respectively.

Pokok Sena Prisons Department director Mohd Sabri Yaakob told reporters that the medal and certificate presentation were in appreciation of the commitment shown by the personnel over the years.

“It’s an annual event and we are proud of these men for carrying out their duties diligently and with integrity,” he said.

Nineteen personnel also received their Prison Officers’ Monetary Fund for their efforts in curbing the smuggling of prohibited articles into the prison.

“They will receive the monetary award based on the sum of the seized items,” he said, adding he hoped that the prison staff of all ranks would continue to carry out their duties more effectively.
