Chamber aims to grow talent pool through professional certificate courses

Prof Dr Mohd Fua’ad presenting a professional certificate to a student in one of the programmes offered by UTMSpace.

SOME 352 working adults successfully completed professional certificate programmes offered by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (UTMSpace).

The programme is an initiative of the Malaysian Associated Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Maicci) with the support of the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) to promote lifelong learning among working adults.

The students did the course through Samudera Management Consultants (SMC), one of the programme management centres of UTMSpace.

SMC principal consultant Mej (R) Dr Prebagaran Jayaraman said the participants comprised skilled labourers, executives and those in middle-management.

“This programme is part of the government’s talent development plan to enhance the competency of our workforce through effective training,” he said, adding HRDF’s quality assurance process was valuable in implementing the programme.

He thanked Maicci for their commitment in improving the knowledge and skills of the local workforce through training programmes like this.

UTMSpace dean Prof Dr Mohd Fua’ad Rahmat was the guest-of-honour at the certificate presentation ceremony held at Dewan Utama, Menara Razak, UTM.

Prof Mohd Fua’ad encouraged participants to continue the lifelong learning journey by optimising the various learning opportunities available.
