Heading towards becoming a low carbon city

In adhering to the pro-active steps, changes to MPAJ's building and transportation methods include installing solar panels and LED lights, implementing cooling system upgrades as well as practicing behaviour change.

MPAJ will also use LED lights for its street lamps, and encourage the use of public transportation, said MPAJ president Abdul Hamid Abdul Hussain.

“We will allocate about RM3mil each year to implement the programmes.

“Although, there is no enforcement in terms of laws or by-laws to regulate what type of lights a building should use.

“Instead, we will create awareness through programmes on energy saving by letting the public know that it is an investment, where they can reduce carbon emissions and also benefit through savings,” he said.
