Pos Laju office building in Ipoh now belongs to DPPM Perak

Muhammad Muhiyuddin (fourth from left) said DPPM Perak has been involved in a tussle with the Central DPMM over the property and its assets.

THE POS Laju office in Ipoh now belongs to the Perak Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DPPM Perak), said its president Datuk Muhammad Muhiyuddin Abdullah.

The ownership of the building, he said, was transferred from the Perak branch of the Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMM) to DPPM Perak legally in accordance with the organisation’s constitution. He said the transfer of the building was done before the DPMM Perak Branch was dissolved legally by the Perak Registrar of Societies in February 2014.

He added the president, deputy president and its honorary treasurer are the trustees with authority over the ownership of assets.

Muhammad Muhiyuddin clarified the matter after rumours about the building’s ownership were being spread among members of the organisation.

“The property belongs to the association. It is our responsibility to ensure it is protected and does not fall into wrong hands,” he said in a press conference at the Royal Ipoh Club last Friday.

Muhammad Muhiyuddin said DPPM Perak was involved in a tussle with the Central DPMM over the property and its assets.

The matter, he said, became a legal battle in 2013 and a decision was made by the High Court last Thursday in favour of DPPM Perak.
