KUCHING: The SMK Green Road Alumni Association plans to publish a book about the late Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
Scheduled to be launched in April, it will feature tributes to the late chief minister of Sarawak as well as his life and legacy.
“The book project is meant to put on record the tributes and legacy of our much-loved Tan Sri Adenan.
“Its content will include interviews with close associates and chronicle his life.
“We are confident that it will become a valuable resource on the topic of leadership for current and future generations,” the association’s chairman Dr Haseanti Hussein said.
Dr Haseanti said both she and alumni patron Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri had met Adenan’s widow Puan Sri Jamilah Anu to seek her consent and views on the book.
“She has given her blessing as well as invaluable advice on the direction to take.
“We are very grateful that she has given her consent for us to proceed with the publication of the book,” Dr Haseanti added.
Elaborating on the book, Nancy said it would have five chapters covering Adenan’s biography, tributes, his legacy, quotes and excerpts from speeches.
“The publication of this book is timely and significant. In the wider context, this is more than just a tribute to a great man – the book will be part of the social and historical record of Sarawak.
“This is also a legacy of Sarawak, a source of pride and inspiration for our youths and future generations,” she said.
According to Dr Haseanti, proceeds from the book will be invested in the alumni’s various programmes such as school upkeep, building fund, mentoring and networking.
She welcomed contributions of tributes to be included in the book, which can be emailed to email@example.com along with a photograph of the contributor.
“We are very excited indeed about the prospect of honouring the late Adenan, who had positively impacted all of us,” she said.
