MIRI: Sarawak youths have been urged to change their mindset about technical and vocational jobs.
Sarawak Assistant Infrastructure Development Ministers Datuk Talip Zulpilip said the state offered many job vacancies in the technical field in tandem with the rapid growth of industries.
“There are many lucrative-paying job opportunities in the technical field in Sarawak, particularly in the Samalaju industrial zone,” he said after meeting entrepreneurs at a private company event in Bintulu. Samalaju is located within the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy belt in Bintulu, about 200km from Miri.
Talip said parents and youths must stop looking down on technical and vocational education.
“Technical and vocational education can secure long-term employment and brings stable income.
“We need to change this mindset towards technical jobs because these jobs pay well too,” he added.
He noted that the current job market was highly competitive and employers sought to hire qualified and skillful workers.
