JOHOR BARU: Those wishing to enjoy a grand reunion dinner on Chinese New Year’s eve will be spoilt for choice with the large variety of fare offered by restaurants here.

From buffet dinners and barbecue steamboats to eight-course meals, diners can look forward to indulging in both contemporary cuisines and traditional Chinese dishes to welcome the Year of the Rooster.

Those looking to enjoy a barbecue steamboat on Chinese New Year eve can head down to Glass in Thistle Hotel Johor Baru.

The barbecue steamboat will not only feature a large variety of choices for the steamboat, but also traditional Chinese dishes for diners to enjoy.

The dinner, priced at RM138 for adults and RM60 for children aged six to 12, will be from 6.30pm to 10.30pm today.

For diners who prefer an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner, there is a myriad of restaurants to choose from.

At the Lunar New Year BBQ Buffet Dinner at Hotel Granada Johor Baru, diners would be able to choose from the large selection including beef steak tandoori andlamb shoulder with herbs, among others.

The buffet, from 6.30pm to 10pm on the first day of the Lunar New Year, is priced at RM88 for adults and RM44 for children aged between four and 12.

Fern Pine Café at Holiday Villa Johor Baru will also be offering buffet dinners today and tomorrow, as well as traditional dinner set menus available from now until Feb 11.

The buffet dinner is priced at RM118 per adult and RM59 for children aged four to 12, while the price for the set menu starts from RM1,388 per table of 10 persons.

Guests ordering the set menus will get to enjoy traditional dishes such as roasted crispy chicken with minced ginger and garlic, special fried ramen, as well as roasted crispy duck and others.

To have a wide variety of international cuisines, guests can also head down to Amerin Hotel Johor Baru, where there will be a Chinese New Year Eve International Buffet Dinner from Jan 27 to 29.

The buffet, which will feature all kinds of food like Japanese cuisine, Chinese cuisine, barbecue and others, is priced at RM99 per adult and RM49 per child aged between five and 12.

At Infusion Café and Restaurant in KSL Hotel and Resort Johor Baru, families can also indulge in a reunion buffet dinner on Chinese New Year eve.

The buffet dinner, priced at RM120 for adults and RM58 for children aged five to 12, will be offering not only traditional Chinese cuisine, but also Malay, Indian cuisine and others.

Guests dining at the restaurant will even receive a lucky goodie bag for Chinese New Year.

For seafood lovers, the Fortune Feast Chinese New Year seafood dinner buffet taking place from today to Jan 29 at Makan Kitchen in DoubleTree by Hilton here would be the optimal choice.

The seafood dinner buffet, priced at RM138 per adult and RM69 per child aged between five and 12, will offer a variety of seafood such as tiger prawns, snow crabs and sashimi.

Diners who make a booking for eight persons and above will also receive a complimentary ocean trout yee sang platter.

For a reunion dinner with a twist, guests can head down to Kishin-Tei at Grand Paragon Hotel Johor Baru to indulge in a Japanese shabu-shabu buffet dinner, happening every night from now until Feb 11, except on Saturday.

The shabu-shabu buffet dinner, priced at RM118 per adult and RM70 per child aged between four and 12, will offer a variety of meat, seafood, appetiser, maki, vegetable and dessert, inclusive of complimentary yee sang.

Families who prefer the classic eight-course or six-course menus can head to Wan Li Chinese Restaurant at Renaissance Johor Baru Hotel to indulge in their Lunar New Year dine-in dishes.

Guests can enjoy dishes such as steamed imperial chicken with Chinese herbs, lobster and salmon yee sang, double boiled village chicken soup with superior dried seafood and others.

The restaurant will be holding the Chinese New Year reunion dinner in two sessions today, with the first session from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and the second session from 8pm to 10pm.

The SkyBar at Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour will also be offering a four-course set menu from today to Jan 29, priced at RM180 per person.

Diners would be able to choose a main course from dishes such as Dongbei Smoked Lamb cutlets, Cantonese steamed garoupa fillet and others.

There will be three different festive set menus available, with prices starting from RM713 per table of five to six persons.

Their festive set menu and yee sang platter will be available from now all the way to Feb 12.

Families dining at the Marina Seafood Restaurant at Straits View Hotel will be able to choose from four different set menus that are inclusive of a bottle of wine per table.

The four set menus will feature traditional dishes like steamed deep sea fish with chai poh, Hong Kong kai lan with fresh scallops, poached sea prawns and others.

The dinner will be available from now up until Feb 11, with the price starting from RM799 per table.

At Kai Xuan Halal Chinese Restaurant at the Puteri Pacific Johor Baru, guests will get to choose from seven festive sets offering seven-course and eight-course menu.

Those looking to enjoy a hi-tea session during the festive season can head down to Palm Garden Café at New York Hotel to indulge in Chinese cuisine, dessert and yee sang to welcome prosperity in the Lunar New Year.

The hi-tea buffet taking place on Jan 28 and 29 is priced at RM58 for adults and RM38 for children aged from four to 11.

For those looking to dine-in or purchase a takeaway yee sang platter throughout the festive season may do so at Tropical Inn Johor Baru, as they are offering the set from now until Feb 11.

The large Prosperity salmon yee sang platter, priced at RM63, would be fit for six to 10 persons.
