SOUTH KOREAN celebrity Lee Kwang Soo of Running Man fame was recently in town for the “Running Man Challenge Hydrated by 100Plus” event in partnership with TV channel ONE HD.
It was not Lee’s first visit to Malaysia but his fans’ support for him remained strong, judging from the hordes of fans gathered at Paradigm Mall last Saturday to see their idol.
Lee, also known as the Asian Prince or “Giraffe”, said he joined Running Man, a popular South Korean variety show, seven years ago when he was 26.
“I am 32 now. The other cast members in the show are like family to me,” he said via an interpreter.
When asked by the emcee what was his favourite Malaysian food, he said, “Satay.”
The charming celebrity, who is currently involved in two TV dramas, was also asked who he hangs out with during his free time.
He said, “I hang out with Song Joong Ki (a popular Korean actor) and my fellow cast members.”
During the meet-and-greet session, the 1.9m tall actor-entertainer towered over fans, who abided by several rules such as no selfies, and to place gifts for him at the designated counter.
Auditions were held nationwide in Kuantan, Johor Baru and Putrajaya to handpick 10 participants for the final challenge, where they fight for the very first Running Man Challenge Champion for Malaysia.
These selected participants will then be assigned different teams led by Malaysian celebrities, namely Ajak Shiro (Team Original), Ayda Jebat (Team Berry), Hairul Azreen (Team Orange) and Shahrul Ridzwan (Team Lemon Lime).
The winning team from Malaysia has a chance to play with Lee.
The final challenge was filmed and the footage will be released on ONE HD on Jan 1, 2017 at 4.45pm as the first Running Man Challenge show recorded in Malaysia.
