Ex-staff share memories as first Mcdonald’s restaurant in Perak closes after 27 years of operation

WHILE the former crew members of McDonald’s Malaysia’s first outlet in Perak on Jalan Mustapha Al-Bakry in Ipoh used to earn only RM1.70 an hour, the bond they shared was priceless.

Former McDonald’s Ipoh team member Salmimawati Mohd Amin, 43, said they didn’t earn a lot at the time, but once the fast-food restaurant closed at 6pm, they would always go to the Mat Jasak restaurant nearby just to hang out and talk about work.
