DEIA study delays work on Teluk Bahang-Tanjung Bungah stretch

The planned interchanges of the Teluk Bahang-Tanjung Bungah paired road are (1) Lembah Permai corner near Sri Vazhikattum Muniswarar shrine, (2) Jalan Sungai Emas, (3) Persiaran Sungai Permai, (4) near Chin Farm Waterfall and (5) about 200m from the Teluk Bahang roundabout near the Toy Museum. — Satellite picture from Google Earth Pro

WHILE contractors rush to repair the collapsed Teluk Bahang-Batu Ferringhi road, more bad news surfaced in the form of delays to the construction of a new paired road that will meander from Teluk Bahang to Lembah Permai in Tanjung Bungah.

The major cause of the delay is a shift in stance of the Department of Environment (DOE) that a detailed environmental impact assessment (DEIA) be conducted instead of only an EIA, according to main contractor Consortium Zenith BUCG Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Zarul Ahmad Mohd Zulkifli.
