WOOGO California Smoothies, a beverage brand from Taiwan has launched “Apple Khabar” as one of their signature smoothies celebrating Malaysian culture.

“All of us have our own and unique way for greeting, so at Woogo we use ‘Apple Khabar’ to greet each other,” said Woogo Malaysia founder Freddy Sia.

Woogo was founded by five “brothers” from different countries, who knew each other in California and met up again in Taiwan after a long tenure overseas.

Woogo was inspired by a sudden craving for authentic California smoothies that the founders indulged in when they were in California.

As a result of their passion, they grew their business to 20 franchises in a short period of three years since 2013.

The first Woogo Malaysia outlet was opened in Wisma Central in Jalan Ampang.

Early last month, the franchise’s second outlet was opened in Paradigm Mall and its third shop will soon open in Sunway Pyramid.

“Malaysia, to us, is one of the greatest countries we have visited with great fruits for our juices and smoothies.

"We are so happy to work with Sia and his team ,” said Woogo California Smoothies chief executive officer Michael Liu.

Liu started his first business when he was 21 – a small drink shop that he opened with money saved from his previous jobs.

“I never imagined being CEO of a multi-million-dollar company with four different concept stores and over 50 stores all over the world established in less than 10 years. Being able to run Woogoo is definitely a dream come true for me.

“Where else can you find a smoothie or juice shop which incorporates music, art and fun into their company culture?” he said.
